2015 Country Highway Tours,
The Stuart Highway, Adelaide to Darwin, including Katherine Gorge and Kakadu National Park and much much more, including lots of great music!!
The Tour starts in Adelaide on Thursday, July 2, 2015, and finishes in Darwin on Monday, July 13, 2015.
Passengers need to make their own arrangements to get to Adelaide and from Darwin.

OUTBACK TOUR 2nd - 13th JULY 2015
Day 1- Thursday, July 2
Departing Adelaide, we travel north on Highway 1. Follow the Gulf St. Vincent to Port Wakefield, then inland we go. Pass Lochiel and Lake Bumbunga, Redhill and Snowtown on our way to Pt. Pirie. Continue on to Port Augusta. Here, we visit the Wadlata Outback Centre, where you will get an insight into our great outback and the journey ahead. Overnight at Port Augusta. (D)
Day 2- Friday, July 3
Joining the Stuart Highway today, we're off to Coober Pedy. A beautiful outback drive through a variety of landscapes including salt lakes and gibber plains, as well as the sparse, harsh landscape surrounding Coober Pedy. At Coober Pedy, we will have a short tour of the town and see life underground as well as lots of amazing opals. Overnight at Coober Pedy. (BLD)
Day 3 - Saturday, July 4
Leaving Coober Pedy, we head towards Oodnadatta and then join the track along the Dog Fence. Follow this north and we'll arrive at the Breakaways, a spectacular sight in the Stuart Ranges. After a look through the Breakaways, we re-join the Stuart Highway and head to the Territory. Along the way we pass Cadney Park and Marla, then Kulgera and Erldunda. We'll visit a Camel Farm this afternoon where the option of a short camel ride is available (own cost). Overnight at Alice Springs. (BLD)
Day 4 - Sunday, July 5
Today we'll have a short tour of the Alice before we head out through the Western MacDonnell Ranges. See some of Central Australia's most striking country, including Glen Helen Gorge. We'll return to Alice in time for a great gig tonight. (BLD)
Day 5 - Monday, July 6
On The Road Again!! On the Stuart Highway once again, we pass the Tropic of Capricorn and Central Mount Stuart on our way to Ti Tree. Further north, we visit and explore the Devils Marbles, witnessing these amazing granite boulders balanced so precariously. A site of great significance to local traditional owners since the time of creation, the area is known to them as Karlu Karlu. Continue through the old gold mining town of Tennant Creek to our overnight stop at Renner Springs. (BLD)
Day 6 - Tuesday, July 7
If it wasn't already, winter is now well and truly behind us! Into the tropics, so have your swimming gear at the ready! We'll pass Elliot on our way to the famous Daly Waters Pub, and start seeing little pieces of WW2 history along the way. At Mataranka, we'll visit the Hot Springs. Here, you can take a dip or just go for a walk and enjoy the surrounds. Continue on to Katherine for our overnight stop. (BLD)
Day 7 - Wednesday, July 8
Katherine, our home for 2 nights, is famous for the Katherine River and Gorge, but also has a long pastoral history, and great art galleries. We'll see a bit of everything, including a visit to Springvale Homestead, a 2 hour cruise in Katherine Gorge in the Nitmiluk National Park, and some free time to browse in Katherine Township. (BD)
Day 8 - Thursday, July 9
Travel through another gold mining town, Pine Creek, before leaving the Stuart Highway and heading into Kakadu National Park. We'll stop for lunch at Cooinda, then take the magnificent Yellow Water Cruise. After this, we continue through Kakadu on our way to South Alligator for our overnight stop. (BLD)
Day 9 - Friday, July 10
Travelling west on the Arnhem Highway, we stop at the Adelaide River for another cruise - this time to see the spectacular Jumping Crocodiles! After lunch at Humpty Doo, we continue on to Darwin, our home for the next 3 nights. (BLD)
Day 10 - Saturday, July 11
Today we'll take a relaxed tour around Darwin. We'll take in a couple of the museums, including the East Point Defence Museum and the Darwin Museum. We'll also visit Doctor's Gully to take part in the daily fish feeding, one of Darwin's famous Markets, and much more. (B)
Day 11 - Sunday, July 12
A free day today. Take an optional Top End tour, go back to the museum, or just relax by the pool. Farewell dinner and gig tonight. (BD)
Day 12 - Monday, July 13
This morning we enjoy our last breakfast together and say farewell before hotel check out. Transfers to the airport will be available for those heading out of Darwin today. If you wish to extend your stay in Darwin, we are happy to advise accommodation details prior to final paperwork. (B)
